Super Bowl LVI Game Picks

Blind Owl

If you’re reading this, congratulations. You did it. You made it through the entire NFL season with the official BO Blog picks. First off, I’d like to thank all of you who stuck around. You are the real MVPs.

Next, I’d like to thank both Concret3Cowboy and BrendawnoftheDead for helping out with their picks for this endeavor. Not only have they given me their picks every week, but they also dealt with my relentless texts nagging them to email those picks to me. And in the regular season, Concret3Cowboy dealt with my constant shit talking about how badly I destroyed him.

Thank yous aside, let’s see how the Cowboy, Brendawn and I did for the Conference Championship games that took place a couple weeks back.

Championship Record:

Blind Owl: 1-1

Concret3Cowboy: 1-1

BrendawnoftheDead: 1-1

Welp, we did the same. It’s a tie. How boring is that? I mean it’s a lot easier to tie when there’s only 2 games. This was 2 weeks ago and I honestly don’t remember what teams we picked and I am not looking it up. Anyway, let’s look and see how are tie impacts the playoff standings:

Total Playoff Record:

Blind Owl: 6-6

Concret3Cowboy: 7-5

BrendawnoftheDead: 7-5

Like a three-way tie would do, the standings stay exactly the same. In fact, it made it physically impossible for me to win this thing outright. The best I can do is tie for the lead if these two hooligans get the game wrong and I get it right. This is a battle between the Cowboy and Brendawn. I, for one, love the fact that I can get them both fired up and watch the battle via text message all evening. For the rest of you, let’s see how they do in the Super Bowl. Thanks again for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it all year:

Super Bowl LVI- LAR @ CIN: LAR -3.5

Before we begin, the Cowboy made a hype video for our picks. Have a look:

Blind Owl: Welp. I now know what it’s like to have nothing to lose. I can’t win this thing, so I just get to pick for fun. Here it goes. As anyone who reads these knows, I have some strange dislike for Joe Burrow. I think he is an absolute tool. A lot of that has to do with the Cowboy absolutely worshiping him ever since he had his 1 good year in college. What also bothers me is the bandwagon jumping that I’m seeing on social media. People are changing their profile pictures to the Bengals logo and writing “Who Dey,” (which is almost as bad as the “who dat,” crap when New Orleans was good). How quickly we forget how bad the Bengals have been for years. They were the laughing stock of the league forever and they made it to one Super Bowl. But my hatred is irrelevant. Football wise, I don’t think the Bengals have much of a chance. Just look at what happened to the Bengals against the Titans. Joe Burrow was sacked NINE TIMES. And that was against the Titans. They almost lost that game, and they have Ryan Tannehill to thank for that. The Rams have a superior pass rush thanks in big part to Aaron Donald. Add Von Miller, who won a Super Bowl MVP for just being a beast of a pass rusher, and Joe B is in for a long evening. Not only does LA have a better pass rush, they have an offense that is amongst the best in the NFL. They’re going to put up some serious points. All of this is a bad recipe for the Bengals. They’ll hang in there early, but at least two big turnovers will sink the Bengals. The Rams will win 34-23.

Concret3Cowboy: I’ve been devilishly saying “So we’re all picking the Rams so we need a tiebreaker” since the Conference Championships. The Owl basically has to pick the Bengals, or he’s going to see this pick and be like “of course the Rams are going to win duh.” Cincinnati has waited 33 years for this moment. The Rams literally don’t have fans. “But Cowboy, the Bengals let up the season high sacks allowed this season. The Rams have Aaron Donald and Von Miller.” Don’t you debate me using common sense. Joe Burrow, the only quarterback my college team has ever had, doesn’t care about anything but winning. The dude left the “Comeback Player of the Year'' trophy on the table. I would like Matthew Stafford to win a super bowl. But fuck the Owl, I’m going Bengals. Plus, this way we don’t need a tiebreaker (those are boring). GEAUX BENGALS

BrendawnoftheDead: I hate this, I want Cincy to win because I hate LA sports. Terrible sports town with a ton of money and "fans" that do not care. Cincy deserves it as a city and fan base, but they will be betrayed by their offensive line. Burrow is under siege every game, sacked 9x vs the Titans and the Rams will score more points than the Titans. McVay will over-coach this into a competitive game, but Stafford will bail him out. Rams by 6...gross.
