Bills Mafia’s New Boss

It isn’t too often that a team that loses a Divisional round playoff game in overtime fires their head coach.
But that brings us to the Buffalo Bills.
After yet another disappointing playoff loss in Buffalo, the Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott.
First of all, it’s about time. How many times can a team with a perennial MVP candidate keep falling short in the playoffs without something needing to change? The path was even more clear than usual with no Mahomes, Burrow or Lamar to contend with. Well, in typical Buffalo fashion, they choked. The organization finally had enough of being close, and showed McDermott the door.
Now that it’s happened though, what’s next?
The first option is the most boring one. The Bills could promote from within. Teams don’t really like to do that after they saw what happened when the Patriots promoted Jerod Mayo last year. If the Bills were to do this, the most likely candidate would be Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady. I can’t imagine they’ll do this. It’s just too much carry over from McDermott and the message seems to have gone stale anyway.
If the Bills want to stick with someone familiar, former Giants coach and Josh Allen whisperer Brian Daboll is available. I’m sure Josh would like that, but do you want to bring in a coach who just got run out of town for not making the playoffs? How could he get the team to the next level if he can’t even get to the playoffs elsewhere? That’s a big no to that one. If anything, that's a lateral move.
Another more interesting option would be if John Harbaugh pulls a Bill Belichick and quits the Giants to go up north to Buffalo. This would be difficult to pull off, but not out of the question. And if you’re Buffalo, who would be better? This is a guy with Super Bowl winning experience with an all world QB that just needs a piece or two to get there. I’m sure Harbaugh is kicking himself for signing with the Giants right now. Buffalo is a much more desirable job.
Of course there are other names out there, Mike Tomlin and Josh McDaniels just to name a couple. But there is one, way more interesting option out there with an unmatched level of Super Bowl experience that would drive the rest of the division absolutely wild.
I’m sure you’ve guessed it by now, I say the Buffalo Bills should make a phone call down to Chapel Hill, North Carolina and make an offer to Bill Belichick to be their new head coach.
Hear me out on this one. I know Bill has had his issues lately that mainly revolve around his girlfriend. She’s a little on the wacky side to say the least. But that will fit right in with the Bills Mafia who is known for jumping through tables.
Putting Belichick’s love life to one side, why wouldn’t Buffalo at least make a phone call. Belichick has tortured Bills fans for the better part of two decades. Why wouldn’t you want that on the sideline?
For Belichick, it would be the sweetest revenge if he could go to a Patriot division rival and ruin their new golden boy Drake Maye. Not to mention that he has a QB with more physical gifts than Tom Brady. Plus if they win, he can shake the “can’t win without Brady” reputation.
I’ll admit, I’m a little biased and want to see New England fans get trolled to the millionth degree. This scenario isn’t the most realistic, but if the Bills think they can win now, who better than the guy that has won more Super Bowls than the Bills have lost. And that’s saying something.
