Moving on from that disclaimer…This season has been good when it comes to football. We’ve seen upsets, close games, blowouts and everything in between. Nothing like a good week of football to distract everyone form what they have to do in the upcoming work week.
Like we said, football has been great. Have our picks been just as good? Well, let’s take a look at how we did in Week 3:

Blind Owl: 9-5-2
Concret3Cowboy: 8-6-2
BrendawnoftheDead: 11-3-2
Brendawn went off. It is amazing that both the Cowboy and I went a couple games over .500 and we still lost by a few games. I haven’t dug through the records, but he may have had the best week in pick history. I will say, the three pushes hurt Brendawn and I. We could’ve had bigger wins. On the flip side of that coin, the Cowboy should be very thankful for them. He could’ve had an abysmal week without the pushes. I have to give credit where it’s due though, he had a great slate of 4pm games. It was looking real ugly at about 3:15 last Sunday. Let’s take a gander at how Week 3 impacted the overall standings.

BrendawnoftheDead: 26-17-5
Look at that. We are all doing incredibly well. Brendawn continues to be schizophrenic and goes back to the top. The Cowboy stays in the middle and Mr. Consistent aka Blind Owl pulls up the rear. I keep having good weeks and I just can’t seem to get the jump on these SOBs. I think I’m next to have a big week. Or will these two meatheads collapse? Who knows, let’s dive in to Week 4 in the NFL:
DET @ GB: DET -1.5
Blind Owl: I’ve picked against the Packers a few times. Both times they have not done what I needed them to. They keep being better than they should be. Unfortunately, the Packers are no longer the class of the NFC North. The Lions are the top team now. Now, it is hard to get past the stigma of the Lions being the bottom dwellers of the league, but they are just the superior team. I also don’t like giving points in a place like Green Bay…but I’m going with the Lions. All Hail Amon’Ra.
Concret3Cowboy: Detroit are my guys. The rule last year was to take them if they were the underdog but stay away if they were favored. I don’t think that’s going to be the case this year. Even though they dropped the game against Seattle when they were favored. They came back and had a nice outing against an underrated Atlanta team. Screw the Pack.
BrendawnoftheDead: Picked Detroit to cover every game so far, why should tonight be any different? The Packers are a young team trying to figure it out while Detroit went through that phase already and are looking to contend late in the season. The Lions will win by at least one score.
DEN @ CHI: DEN -3.5
Blind Owl: This year is starting to look like last year. It may even be worse because I feel like I’m getting teased. I’ll put an ultimatum out there. If the Broncos can’t cover this one against the sorry ass Bears, then I won’t be picking them again this year. It’s that simple.
Concret3Cowboy: I don’t even want to take the Broncos but if I can't take them here, could I take them in any game this season? The Broncos were easier to watch when they had a shitty offense but a shitty defense is just painful to take in. Maybe because I am a defensive guy but I don’t care if Russell plays well and loses by 50.
BrendawnoftheDead: Feels weird taking a team to cover that just gave up 70 freaking points, but here we are. The Bears stink worse than the Broncos and that's saying something.
NE @ DAL: DAL -6
Blind Owl: Dallas should be embarrassed. They let Arizona beat them. New England should also be embarrassed. They absolutely dominated the game against the Jets and were a foot or so from losing to Zack Wilson. As for this game, it’s strength versus strength. This is going to be a defensive slugfest. Dallas has the better offense, but what I saw against Arizona isn’t making me confident. I want the Pats to get their butts whooped, but I have to use my head. In a defensive matchup, you always take the points. Pats will lose, but will cover.
Concret3Cowboy: My Arizona Lions (If you read last week's picks you get this name change) got the cover of the year last week against Dallas. Dallas has every reason to bounce back after a horrible performance. They have a good coach (supposedly), a good QB (supposedly) and a good defense (that's very real). They also have reasons to continue to fall; a bad coach (possibly), an overrated QB (possibly) and a nutty owner (factual). The Pats do have a good defense. I’m going to ride with the Cowboys just so I can keep being accused of being a Dallas fan on social media.
BrendawnoftheDead: Let's be clear, I do not like NE to win this game. Let's be clear twice, the cowboys are overrated (they lost to a tanking team) and the Patriots are just good enough to not get blown out. They'll lose and it will come down to the last possession, once again my spirit will be crushed.
ATL @ JAX: JAX -3
Blind Owl: I can’t tell you what it is, but I like the Falcons. I’m going with them for no other reason than I just feel a big win coming. I totally forgot this game was happening as I was typing these, so who knows. These London games screw me up every year.
Concret3Cowboy: I’ll just go Jags because they're at the second home. I do like this Atlanta team though.
BrendawnoftheDead: Now or never for Jacksonville. If they lose, I'm in the market for a new fantasy quarterback.
MIA @ BUF: BUF -2.5
Blind Owl: We don’t do over/unders here, but HAMMER that over. Lots of points coming here. Miami has been impressive. Buffalo hasn’t been that great, but always have that potential. This one could be an AFC title game preview. I have to pick the hot hand here. Tua and the Dolphins are on a whole other level right now. It looks more like an arena ball game when they chuck the ball around. I say they win this one outright. I’ll take the points as an added bonus. The Phins should be thankful they go to Buffalo in early October rather than later in the year.
Concret3Cowboy: Miami scored 70 points last week and they’re underdogs? I do feel like I haven’t seen a down of Bills football this year. Miami has the most speed on offense, I can only imagine if Herbert was a Dolphin over a Charger. South Beach would have a wild offense. To be fair, Tua may be the smartest/smoothest brain mushed guy out there. Give me the phins.
BrendawnoftheDead: I can't pick against a team that dropped 70 and took their foot off the gas. The Bills lost to the Jets with Zach Wilson…just throwing that out there as justification.
BAL @ CLE: CLE -1.5
Blind Owl: I am still really struggling with the Browns being favored. It goes against everything I thought I knew about the NFL. But that defense is good. I have to take them here. I don’t like it, but I have to.
Concret3Cowboy: Ravens stink. They’ve beaten the Texans, Bengals but then dropped one against the Colts. The Ravens defense is very un-Raven like. Lamar has also been very “I just got paid”-like. Give me the Brownies, I freaking love brownies. They are a very underutilized treat that isn’t accessible enough.
BrendawnoftheDead: give me Baltimore. DeShaun Watson is a bad quarterback and the Browns are a cursed franchise.
PIT @ HOU: PIT -3
Blind Owl: Gross. I’m glad I don’t have to watch this one. Nobody cares who wins this one. Pittsburgh all day.
Concret3Cowboy: Steelers, I don’t have to explain myself. The Texans messed me up last week. CJ Stroud is still bad.
BrendawnoftheDead: Pittsburgh should be a better football team but Houston is a bad football team that decided to have a good week against an underperforming team. I think Pittsburgh takes it, TJ Watt will haunt CJ Stroud's dreams.
MIN @ CAR: MIN -4
Blind Owl: This is a Kirk Cousins special. No pressure at all. Playing against a team that isn’t great. The game is in the afternoon and no lights will be on. The Vikings will win this one easily.
Concret3Cowboy: Kissing Cousins gets his team a W and a nice stat line.
BrendawnoftheDead: it's finally time, Minnesota is going to win a game and cover! Cats and dogs are getting along and hell has frozen over.
LAR @ IND: PICK
Blind Owl: When I saw this was a pick’em I was honestly surprised. The Colts are over achieving a lot. The Rams were able to hang with San Fran. I figured the Rams would be favored, but I’ll take it and pick LA. Knowing our luck this year, they’ll tie.
Concret3Cowboy: Minshew would be starting somewhere if there was another NFL team. Ryan and Wentz would still be unemployed. I like the Rams this year. So give them to me here.
BrendawnoftheDead: meh, Rams I guess? They haven't impressed but they have played tough. I think Stafford has enough left in the tank to win this one.
TB @ NO: NO -3.5
Blind Owl: I think the Cowboy has let his Florida Man persona go to his head. He’s high on the Bucs for no other reason than he used to live near the stadium. He needs to remember he lives in Taxachusetts now. The Saints will win this one by a TD.
Concret3Cowboy: Tampa Bay. The Saints’ offense is totally stuck in the mud. I feel like the spread is a little too big.
BrendawnoftheDead: I don't know if I like them to win but I like the Bucs to cover. They have a good enough defense and the saints have quarterback problems.
WAS @ PHI: PHI -9
Blind Owl: Washington has been a weird team. Howell has been half way decent. Unfortunately, they run into a juggernaut in Philly. It;s a division game and it will be closer the next time they play, but this time Philly will blow them out.
Concret3Cowboy: I think the Washington team’s defense read a little too much of their newspaper clippings. This squad has given up a lot of points and a lot of yards. I don’t think Howell and Co. will be able to keep pace.
BrendawnoftheDead: I don't really want to pick Philly…but I'm picking Philly. The Bills exposed the commies as pretenders and the the eagles will do the same. Howell got picked off 4x last week and the eagles defense is better than the Bills.
CIN @ TEN: CIN -2.5
Blind Owl: People are saying Joe Burrow came back too early. I think he just isn’t the generational talent we thought he was. Don’t misconstrue my point, he’s very good. He just isn’t to the level of greatness that’s been going around. That being said, the Bengals are the far superior team. If they don’t cover this spread they should really start doing some soul searching. Bengals win.
Concret3Cowboy: Umm as an LSU guy, when Burrow came into the league. I said he isn’t overly talented. He’s a Brady-like guy, he delivers. That’s it. He’s not going to outrun you, he won’t out throw your QB, he’ll just out grit the other team and check down the ball with the occasional 50/50 throw to his better targets. I think Cincy is starting to get their shit together. I wanted to trust the Titans but I just can’t yet. Give me Cincy.
BrendawnoftheDead: Cincinnati because Tennessee is a mess. The Bengals are also a mess but they at least have talent. The Titans will be down a GM/ coach in the near future.
LV @ LAC: LAC -4.5
Blind Owl: The Raiders are the mediocre team that they typically are. Not laughably bad, but not good. The Chargers seem to be quite good. But we’ve seen this with the Chargers before. In all honesty, LA should destroy LV, but it won’t be like that. It’s a division game, so the Raiders will hang in, but the Chargers will pull away late.
Concret3Cowboy: Raiders stink.
BrendawnoftheDead: I hate that I'm doing this but Chargers cover for once. They have an idiot for a coach and they just lost Mike Williams for the year, but the Raiders also have an idiot for a coach and have less talent.
ARI @ SF: SF -14
Blind Owl: San Fran should take some serious notes from Dallas last week. I’ve picked against the Cardinals every week and it hasn’t worked out. San Fran is clearly the top of the top in NFC, but 14 points is a lot. I anticipate the Cowboy riding his pick from last week and taking the Cardinals, so I’ll go opposite him and take the 9ers. Don’t let me down Brock Purdy.
Concret3Cowboy: I’ve laid out the rules, and I must follow them. Cardinals.

KC @ NYJ: KC -8.5
Blind Owl: Zack Wilson is talented but terrible. In my opinion that’s worse than just terrible. He gives Jets fans false hope. As for the game, the Chiefs won’t be like the Patriots and let the Jets hang around. The Jets will have plenty of tear drops on their guitar.
Concret3Cowboy: KC is going to be KC in prime time and pile it on.
BrendawnoftheDead: The Jets stink and Zach Wilson is the reason why… also bad offensive line. Need I say more?
SEA @ NYG: SEA -1.5
Blind Owl: I am NEVER picking the Giants again this year. I also hate the Seahawks. Can I pick the referees? No? Alright. Seattle I guess.
Concret3Cowboy: Nice spread for the Hawks.
BrendawnoftheDead: I'm thinking Seattle wins comfortably. The Giants are a mess and have zero offensive talent with Barkley hurt. The Seahawks are a fringe wild card team. Math says the Hawks are superior.
