Almost every day since Election Day we’ve seen the same headlines. The Trumpers out there are screaming about finding ballots in various places all over the place. Is anyone else getting a little sick of hearing it?
I get the instinct, it was a tight election and the Republicans lost. If it were me, I’d do the same thing. Try everything at your disposal to try and win. That is just a competitors mentality.
Let’s be real though, it has been a month and here we sit. Pretty much in the same place as we were a few days after the election. I just saw today a headline flash across my newsfeed about 3000 ballots found floating in Lake Eerie.
I’ll go with the whole corruption thing for a second. If the Democrats were cheating like the Republicans think they were, would they be dumb enough to throw ballots into a lake or a dumpster? Wouldn’t it just be easier to go to Walmart and buy a shredder and lock someone in a closet? Or burn it in the woods somewhere? Or even just bring them home and periodically get rid of them? The Republicans think it is some “deep state” conspiracy. If it was in depth I think they could more effectively get rid of a few thousand ballots.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no doubt there was fraud in this election. I’d put my life savings (which isn’t a lot) on the fact that there has been election fraud in every single election in US history. It is simply impossible to stop people who really want to cheat in an election. A few will get caught, but the vast majority will get away with it.
This goes for both sides. I guarantee both the Republicans and Democrats cheated in this election. I think the Democrats probably cheated more, but like most elections they got away with it.
I think it’s high time for the Republicans to cut their losses and just give it up. They lost. Maybe not fair and square, but they lost. There is an old phrase that the great Judge Judy uses regularly on her program, “you have to come to court with clean hands.” I suggest that the Republicans take a long hard look in the mirror before they continue tossing these corruption allegations around, because I bet if anyone looks hard enough, there will be some right-wing election fraud out there.
