Here we are, and in true Blind Owl Blogs fashion, we are a week late. Little do y’all know, but Brendawn, the Cowboy and I actually wrote our picks for Week 1. Turns out your boy had things to do and couldn’t post them in time. Been a lot going on over here. Some good, some less than ideal. Anyway, nobody gives a rat’s behind about my issues, so here’s what’s happening:
We will be posting every week, just like years past, except for this one. In this post you’ll find both Week 2 up top and Week 1 on the bottom. We’ve decided to write up a few big games, five to be exact, and just put our other picks in the chart down bottom. This will save all of us some time. Anyway, preamble over, if you want to read our picks for Week 1, scroll down to that part, if you’d just rather see the records and move on, just keep on reading.
Week 1 Records
Blind Owl: 8-7-1
Concret3Cowboy: 8-7-1
BrendawnoftheDead: 9-6-1
Wow. We all ended up doing pretty solid in the hardest week of picks. I thought it was going to be bowling shoe ugly. Brendawn takes an early lead, which is never a bad thing for him. Unfortunately for him the Cowboy and I keep it really close. Can he keep it up? Or will one of us other morons make a move? Find out in our picks for Week 2:
BUF @ MIA: MIA -2.5
Blind Owl: Buffalo looked predictably worse than last year. Miami is still going to be that team that beats bad teams and loses to good ones. Buffalo isn’t really a good team so Miami will win. I’d bet they lose when they play again though.
Concret3Cowboy: I’m not big on Buffalo. Not big on Miami either but I am big on Miami Mike. For being a south beach team the Dolphins are pretty put together. I feel like Buffalo will never get over the hump. Not with this front office.
BrendawnoftheDead: neither team did much to impress last week even though they both came away with wins. The Bills have some questions at receiver but the Dolphins have injuries at running back. The Bills’ defense is still too good to be beaten one dimensionally. Picking buffalo to win on the road vs a diminished Dolphin's offense .
SEA @ NE: SEA -3.5
Blind Owl: The Patriots luck continues. They get a Seattle team that almost lost to the Broncos right after being there while the Bengals beat themselves. The only thing that’ll keep NE in this game is the Seahawks not being good. Give me NE to cover.
Concret3Cowboy: Unlike the Owl, I believe Seattle is a playoff team. I would have said the same thing about Cincy.. but what the fuck do they do for week 1 games? Falling to the Pats is just horrendous. The game is across the country though, so there’s that. I don’t think the Pats hold a candle to Seattle.
BrendawnoftheDead: My children said this is going to be a tie game, I'll roll with it. I don't think Seattle is good, Geno Smith kinda stinks, and Kenneth Walker is doubtful. I don't think that offense has anything of substance to throw at the Patriots. Granted, the Patriots offense has exactly one weapon of substance, but that's enough to take the Patriots to cover.
PIT @ DEN: PIT -3
Blind Owl: The Broncos are terrible. It’s fine. I’m used to it. But Russell Wilson retuning in Week 2 is not ideal. Bo Nix looked bad, but the defense was actually not the worst. I strongly doubt Denver will win, but a home underdog is tempting. But I have to be smart. The Titsburgh Feelers will win by more than a TD…
Concret3Cowboy: Steelers to protect my feelings. Yeah, we’re already there in week 2. Tough start for Bo pulling games at Seattle week 1 and now facing this Steelers defense, ouch.
BrendawnoftheDead: This is not going to be a fun watch. Pittsburgh is boring and the broncos are in a cap hell induced rebuild. Bo Nix might look better but he doesn't have much for weapons and TJ Watt is a thing. I'm thinking the Steelers win via yinzer bullshit like they do just over half the time.
CIN @ KC: KC -6
Blind Owl: Cincy and Joe Burrow STINK. KC easily by 15 or more.
Concret3Cowboy: Chiefs by 100.
BrendawnoftheDead: My God did the Bengals look awful last week. They're rusty, unmotivated, and don't have their full compliment of weaponry. Not a great combination when playing Kansas City. The evil empire wins again…
ATL @ PHI: PHI -6.5
Blind Owl: The Eagles are destined for disappointment. They’ll lose to some bad teams. This isn’t the week though. Captain Kirk doesn’t have what it takes in Atlanta, yet.
Concret3Cowboy: I still don’t believe in the Eagles. I think Kirk bounces back a bit against a poor defense.
BrendawnoftheDead: I don't think the Eagles are as good as last week's score indicates. I don't think Atlanta is as bad as last week's score indicates. They're both above average NFL teams with Philly having the home field advantage. Typically that's good for 3 points, 6.5 seems a little high. Taking Atlanta to cover because Philly's defense has fallen off a cliff.
