2021 Week 14 NFL Picks

We are knee deep in the holiday season right now. Thankfully, we have some football to get us through it. The Army/Navy game is today, and we are in the thick of the playoff races in the NFL. The same goes for the Blind Owl Blogs NFL Picks. We are getting into crunch time. Let’s see how Concret3Cowboy and I did for unlucky Week 13.

Week 13 Results:

Blind Owl: 10-4

Concret3Cowboy: 5-9

Whoa. This must have been my best week of the year. 10 wins is hard to compete with. The point was proven by the Cowboy only getting half the amount of wins this week as I did. Big five game wins like this can’t be good for the Cowboy in the overall standings. Let’s see if I’m right.

Totals:

Blind Owl: 106-86-2

Concret3Cowboy: 79-113-2

I broke into the hundreds! 106 wins is a great number, compared to the Cowboy’s 79. For those non-math people, that calculates to a 27 game lead for me. A couple more weeks like this and I can just stop and there won’t be any way for the Cowboy to catch me. It’s desperation time for the Cowboy, let’s see if he can even make it respectable when he loses.

PIT @ MIN: MIN -3

Blind Owl: I’m really at a loss here. I don’t know how to pick this one. So let’s do it by comparison. The Steelers tied the Lions without Ben Roethlisberger. The Vikings on the other hand lost to the Lions. They also lost Adam Thielen. As the Cowboy said via text, “You’re only picking the Steelers cause they tied the Lions and the Vikings lost.” Correct sir.

Concret3Cowboy: This already happened as I’m writing this Sunday morning. Boy that ending was scary. In typical fashion, the Blind Owl got my pick first and then picked his. One play away and this would have made me a game behind going into the Sunday slate.

DET @ DEN: DEN -8

Blind Owl: The Lions finally got the monkey off their back. They beat a pretty good Minnesota team at the last moment. Now they have to travel to play my Broncos in Denver. Last week, the Cowboy called my fandom into question because I picked the Chiefs to win. Well, a good fan needs to use their head. I wanted the Broncos to win, but I knew they wouldn’t. This week is totally different. I know the Cowboy needs to take some chances. So I’ll ride with my Broncos against a bad team at home.

Concret3Cowboy: I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Detroit covers. What Bronco team will we see today? RIP #88

BAL @ CLE: CLE -2.5

Blind Owl: John Harbaugh made the decision most people are too smart to make. It almost worked, but when you have the best kicker in the league, you kick that ball. Either way, I bet his players respected him for taking the chance. Cleveland is coming off of a bye and should be a little healthier. That being said, I don’t like them being favored here. I think the Ravens will put up some numbers here. I’d pick them even if they were favored. Never trust the Browns.

Concret3Cowboy: The Baltimore injuries are finally affecting the team. Cleveland isn’t looking too much better in that area, especially in their quarterback. Cleveland still has a very balanced out roster, they should cover.

DAL @ WFT: DAL -3.5

Blind Owl: I’ve been impressed with the Football Team. They’ve strung together some good wins. Unfortunately, they’ll come crashing down to earth against the Cowboys. Dallas wins big.

Concret3Cowboy: Cowboys suck, they tricked us, but they still suck. Washington has only gotten better after Young went out for the season. Sometimes the players need to have that added pressure on them to step up.

LV @ KC: KC -9.5

Blind Owl: The Raiders lost to Washington. KC kicked the tar out of my Broncos. It doesn’t help the Raiders cause that the game is in KC. If they can’t beat Taylor Heinicke, they can’t beat Patrick Maholmes.

Concret3Cowboy: The Raiders did get absolutely dog walked by Kansas City earlier in the season. But I’m down by like 69 games at this point so what could go wrong?

SEA @ HOU: SEA -7.5

Blind Owl: This one is harder than it looks. Anyone that knows me, knows how much I hate the Seahawks and would love to see them lose. But Houston is AWFUL. So, I have to pick Seattle.

Concret3Cowboy: Seattle got a nice win over the 49ers and the Houston Texans are the worst team (like everyone expected them to be). Detroit can’t win games but Houston is the worst squad.

JAX @ TEN: TEN -9.5

Blind Owl: Full disclosure, I accidentally sent the Cowboy the spreads with Jacksonville favored by 9.5. I think it says a lot about this game that neither of us even thought about this. That being said, I have to pick with my brain with a huge lead like I have. I’m nervous, but I’m picking Tennessee.

Concret3Cowboy: The problem with having one guy account for 80% of your offense is that when/if they go down, you have a major identity issue. Tennessee has lost to crap teams while beating playoff teams. Derrick Henry is still 3rd in the league with carries, that’s insane.

NO @ NYJ: NO -5

Blind Owl: Taysom Hill looked bad. But the Jets have looked bad for the better part of 50 years. I guess I’ll take the Saints.

Concret3Cowboy: So now we all know why Trevor was starting over Tayson Hill. Hill is a madman, a loose cannon and exciting. But not a productive quarterback. But the J-E-T-S are a tire fire. They just keep burning and burning and burning and burning.

ATL @ CAR: CAR -3

Blind Owl: Having no McCaffrey destroyed the Panthers. They got a bye week to lick their wounds. The Falcons got Tom Brady-ed and lost to Tampa Bay. I just don’t trust the Panthers at all. I have a little bit more faith in Matt Ryan. Give me the Falcons with the points.

Concret3Cowboy: Why am I picking the Falcons? Every time I do it doesn’t work out well. Maybe I’m insane, I just keep doing it thinking it will change.

NYG @ LAC: LAC -10.5

Blind Owl: The Chargers seem to have righted the ship at the right time. They destroyed the Bengals who looked very bad. The Giants got stomped by the red hot Dolphins. Los Angeles is going to keep their momentum going against the G-Men and win massively. Which will be great for my fantasy teams heading into the playoffs.

Concret3Cowboy: Joe Judge is number two in my “garbage coaches” rankings. Behind Urban, even though Urban is the one that likes to be behind, giggity. A lot of NFL teams have been on and off this season, the Chargers are one of the best examples of this. Who knows how they’ll perform today.

SF @ CIN: CIN -1

Blind Owl: I know for a fact that, even though the Bengals got their asses handed to them by the Chargers, the Cowboy is going to pick Cincy. He is in love with Joe Burrow. I’m going to extend my lead by picking the 49ers who had a tough loss to the Seahawks. A big bounce back game for Jimmy G and the SF defense will continue to expose Burrow.

Concret3Cowboy: Speaking of being on and off through the weeks, who the hell are the Bengals? They’ve slapped around the Ravens, Raiders, Steelers but then lost big to the Browns and Chargers. Throw in a loss to the Bears and I’m not sure how to feel. San Fran has been brought back to earth, losing a divisional game to the Seahawks. Divisional games are always a flip of a coin, unless it’s the Packers vs Lions of course. San Fran could easily win this game if they had Deebo.

BUF @ TB: TB -3

Blind Owl: The Bills lost to a team that threw 3 passes. I could’ve played QB for the Pats and won that game. The conventional mind would say that the Bills are collapsing. Especially after the way Sean McDermott handled things post game. But this is perfect for the Bills. They go down to Tampa to play a complacent Bucs team with a weak secondary. This one has a shootout all over it. In that case, I’ll take the points and go with the Bills. Just remember, nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

Concret3Cowboy: Buffalo fails to answer when getting punched in the face, again and again. Playoff Lenny is going to run wild on this team. I’m losing confidence in the Bills making it to the big stage. There’s too many teams in the AFC that are just tougher than them right now. The playoffs are better with Bills Mafia in it, but it’s hard for them to show up when the Bills are the tables and the opposing running backs are jumping through them.

CHI @ GB: GB -12.5

Blind Owl: This’ll be a classic Packer destruction of the Bears. Not much else to say. Aaron Rodgers goes off.

Concret3Cowboy: Aaron Rodgers owns the Bears, even with 9 working toes. Dr. Rogan did Aaron well. Nagy still has a job, the biggest shock of the season in my opinion. The Packers defense is a lot better nowadays then the first time these teams met. Fields pushes the ball downfield better than Dalton but don’t expect that to end well.

LAR @ ARI: ARI -2.5

Blind Owl: HUGE AFC West matchup here. Not only that, but this will be a playoff matchup at some point too. The Rams are coming off an easy win over the Jags. Meanwhile, the Cardinals put a beating on the Bears. If you like an over/under bet here, take the over. Big shootout in the desert on Sunday afternoon. As for my pick, I’ll take the home team -2.5. This will be the game of the week.

Concret3Cowboy: This feels like a reach, but I have faith in the Rams still. They looked a lot better without Von and OBJ then they do with them. But eventually this team is going to figure it out and get on track. There’s something going on with Matt Stafford, no one is talking about an injury but there’s something. He seemed better last week so expect the Rams to keep pace with Kyler and D-Hop in the desert.
