2023 Week 8 NFL Picks

Reader, I ask for you to go back in your memory. What is the most historic event you remember? The younger readers may say the Covid pandemic, the older ones may go back to the Challenger disaster. People my age may go back to 9/11. I’m not sure, but maybe there’s a reader out there that remembers the JFK assassination. Whatever the event is in your life, there’s always something that happens where people remember almost everything about where they were, who they were with and even what they were doing.

It isn’t often that we see one of these events and know it immediately. It also isn’t too often that the BO Blogs weekly picks are the cause of the memories that will forever be locked in our subconscious. This momentous event has forever changed our mindsets as a whole society. Quite honestly, it has even changed my outlook on mortality as a whole. When I woke up to discover that history was made on a Monday night, I let out an audible gasp and if I weren’t laying in bed, would have collapsed to the ground. I’m getting emotional just thinking about it right now. I haven’t been my normal jovial self all week just thinking about having to write what almost seems like an obituary. I’m not even listening to my usual playlist of upbeat country music to write this. Instead I’ve moved towards a much darker mid 2000s rock playlist. I can’t talk about this anymore, I need to just let the records speak for themselves. If you’re standing up, I suggest sitting down. If your eating or drinking while reading this, swallow now. I don’t want this news to be responsible for any choking deaths, or comedy spit takes. You’ve been warned. Scroll on at your own peril and look at the records for Week 7 in the NFL.

Week 7 Records:

Blind Owl: 3-10

Concret3Cowboy: 7-6

BrendawnoftheDead: 0-13

I understand if you can’t go on. It’s emotionally impactful to see someones record start with a 0. If you can’t continue, that’s ok. We got the click anyway so it really doesn’t matter how much you read. In case you’re wondering, a team of experts has been sent to Brendawn’s residence to support his family in this tough time. I can’t even begin to imagine what they must think after this catastrophe. I think we need a moment of silence before we see how this abysmal performance has impacted the season totals. Join me friends…

Total Records

Blind Owl: 52-49-5

Concret3Cowboy: 52-49-5

BrendawnoftheDead: 48-53-5

Huh? He’s not dead? I thought this kind of historic performance would bury Brendawn. Luckily for him, I helped out by sucking almost as badly. What’s forgotten in all this history is that for the second week in a row, we had someone move from worst to first. I’m also aware that we got out picked by a 5 year old, but that happens. I think this is the first year where every one of us has held the lead at some point. Can the Cowboy keep himself on top? Will Brendawn follow up his historically atrocious week with a historically great one? Read our picks for Week 8 and find out:

TB @ BUF: BUF -9.5

Blind Owl: If you lose to the putrid Patriots and get bailed out by the refs against the Giants then I can’t pick you with a huge spread. Tampa all day.

Concret3Cowboy: I’m surprised the Owl hasn’t been nagging me all day about this pick.. maybe because my 5 year old kick both those guys’ asses last week (he tends to get quiet when he’s slacking). As for this game, I don’t know. I want to go with Tampa but they let me down a few times already and Buffalo is a mess. My heart says Buffalo is the kind of team to bounce back from a bad game… but are they? Are the Bills and Phins actually good? These are the questions that come up as we near November. I like the Bucs defense and their offense is good enough to cover but no outcome would surprise me with this game. Raise the Sails.

BrendawnoftheDead: Given their body of work the past 3 weeks, 9.5 seems a bit high. The Bills lost to the Patriots, a team I championed as being in the NFL's bottom 3… I wouldn't call Tampa "good", but they don't go down easy. I'll take the Bucs to cover.

NE @ MIA: MIA -9.5

Blind Owl: All week at school I heard kids and teachers alike telling me that the Patriots aren’t that bad. “They beat the Bills!!” was the refrain that echoed through my gym. I hate to rain on their parade, but the Bills don’t seem to be that good anymore. The Dolphins, even though they lost to the Bills, are a different class. Not to mention that they already beat New England when the Pats were closer to full strength. They have no chance in beating the Phins. There’s a small chance the Patz hang in and lose by like 6 or something, but I doubt it. Miami all the way.

Concret3Cowboy: I tried to get Charlotte to do my football picks again.. but she’s watching “Escape to the Outback'' and told me that she “will not.” Now to football, I don’t think the Dolphins or Bills are actually “good.” Who am I to say Miami stinks as they have dropped a 70 point game on my team but the Broncos defense has been just the worst. Miami and the Bills have put the beating on bad teams. Now the Pats are still the worst team in their division and never have liked going to Miami. Give me the Phins to win but multiple touchdowns.

BrendawnoftheDead: eff it, Patreyeots lose by 8 and cover.

KC @ DEN: KC -7

Blind Owl: The only good news about this game is that Taylor Swift won’t be there. KC is going to annihilate my Broncos.

Concret3Cowboy: It’s supposed to be a cold crappy day in Denver. I’m actually impressed with how Denver’s defense has turned around after a historically bad start. KC’s defense is in the tops in the league in every stat. People keep comparing Wilson’s year to Mahomes stats and saying “see Russ is back.” I’d like to dispute that with “maybe Mahomes is playing like crap.” I’ll take Denver to cover, just because I like hurting myself. the 7-point spread does feel a little low but Denver has been losing close games to the Chiefs for years.

BrendawnoftheDead: Denver stinks once again, KC'S defense is actually good… sorry friends. KC via utter annihilation

NYJ @ NYG: NYJ -3

Blind Owl: I have a question. When these two teams play, who gets the home locker room at the stadium? Or do they have their own and true away teams have another? That’s the most interesting thing about this game. The Jets should win easily.

Concret3Cowboy: Is Jones playing behind center? Because they’ve been a lot better with Tyrod. The Jets are really good on both sides of the trenches.. the Giants are really bad. 3 should be easy for the Jets unless catastrophic events happen.

BrendawnoftheDead: Jets cover but I feel bad for tyrod Taylor. Unluckiest player in modern NFL history. He is better than Danny derps though.

JAX @ PIT: JAX -2

Blind Owl: The Jaguars keep burning me. I pick them, they suck. I pick agaisnt them, they kick ass. Pittsburgh has been kind of similar honestly. In this case, you have to go with your first instinct. So I’ll take the Jags but I’m hesitant about it.

Concret3Cowboy: Umm… Steelers. I just can’t take the Jags seriously, they seem pretty damn good this year. My heart just won’t let me buy in. Between Trevor’s hair and the kitty print stuff… I just can’t. As a Florida Man for some years, Jacksonville is poo.

BrendawnoftheDead: There are 2 teams I can't pick to save my life, the Steelers and freaking saints. I'm picking against the Steelers out of spite. Go jags

ATL @ TEN: ATL -2.5

Blind Owl: This spread was a little interesting to me. Why are the Titans home dogs? Tannehill is out, but that doesn’t seem like a huge deal. It’s not like he’s a top tier QB. The Falcons have been disappointing this year. Especially last week when Robinson didn’t play and screwed my fantasy team. That being said, I’ll take the Falcons in this one…even though I’m unsure. Robinson better play.

Concret3Cowboy: Falcons.. Titans are not to be trusted.

BrendawnoftheDead: If the reports are to be believed, Tennessee is having a fire sale. They had their window and they couldn't capitalize. Such is life in the NFL, now back to the bottom they go. I don't like the falcons but they're trending up, not getting ready for a gut and rebuild. Gimme Atlanta

HOU @ CAR: HOU -3.5

Blind Owl: You know something? Houston actually having a competent GM has made a difference. They’ve got talent and are playing good football. Tank Dell looks like a legit receiver. Even though CJ Stroud went to Ohio State, which means he has no chance, he hasn’t been typical Buckeye Bad. Give me the Texans in this one.

Concret3Cowboy: I’ve wanted to believe in the Panthers but Young stinks and so does his coach. Give me the weird star eyed bull team.

BrendawnoftheDead: I'll pick the Texans, Stroud has more to work with than young and by that I mean he's not 5'9" with a terrible line. Also they have won a few games

LAR @ DAL: DAL -6.5

Blind Owl: This game all comes down to if the Rams can protect Stafford. If they can, they’ll hang with the Cowboys enough to cover. If the pass rush gets to Stafford and he has no time to find Cooper Kupp, the Rams are screwed. Unfortunately for poor Matthew, I anticipate a big week for the Cowboys D. They may get within a TD late, but the Boys will cover this week.

Concret3Cowboy: Cowboys just have a very very good defense and the Rams offense hasn’t looked too able to do much outside Stafford and Pacua playing catch.

BrendawnoftheDead: I am not confident in either team, but I'll take the stronger defense. Cowboys by 7 .

MIN @ GB: PICK

Blind Owl: The one Packer fan at school never heard the end of it from me this week. I’m sure it was annoying. Well his misfortune is going to continue cause Minnesota is going to beat them bad. Captain Kirk will have a great game.

Concret3Cowboy: As a Kirk fan.. he looked surprisely just the same even without JJ on the field. The Pack stinks.

BrendawnoftheDead: I don't have faith in the Vikings to cover anything but I have less faith in Jordan Love. Given that there is no spread, to comes.

NO @ IND: NO -2.5

Blind Owl: I think I’m done with the Saints. They annoy me. And what do I do with things that annoy me? Ignore them. Time for some Minshew Magic! Go Colts.

Concret3Cowboy: Oof, I like picking both these squads. I like the Colts offense more and their home.

BrendawnoftheDead: if I were a gambling man, this is the kind of game I would pass on. I too am done with the saints. They're my huckleberry along with the Steelers. Once again picking against them out of spite…and Derek Carr stinks

PHI @ WAS: PHI -7

Blind Owl: The only good thing that came from Washington last week was Brendawn calling them the Redskins in a drunken haze…The Eagles will win easily and cover.

Concret3Cowboy: I want to go commanders but you can’t trust them either. I know it’s a popular trend, but I’ll still say it, Sirianni is such a twat. Even with a great team to work with he really tries to play the underdog approach. The dude is just so punchable.

BrendawnoftheDead: That was purposeful, drunken haze or not. They're a mess, whatever their stupid name is. Eagles win big

CLE @ SEA: SEA -3.5

Blind Owl: Why is this game on TV in the Boston area? I certainly won’t be watching it. PJ Walker has actually been ok for the Browns. Something deep down inside me just wants to pick against the Seahawks. I have to go with my gut. PJ and the Brownies take this one.

Concret3Cowboy: The owls getting mad at me so let’s do a two-minute offense for these last picks. Browns.

BrendawnoftheDead: I don't want to pick Cleveland but Geno Smith has done little to prove that last year wasn't a fluke. The Browns defense is excellent and the Seahawks do not impress me. I miss Nick Chubb

BAL @ ARI: BAL -9.5

Blind Owl: A battle of the birds here. The Ravens looked great last week and the Cardinals didn’t. The Ravens will win big here.

Concret3Cowboy: Rules are rules. Cardinals.

BrendawnoftheDead: I like the fight in Arizona but they don't have the talent. Ravens cover

CIN @ SF: SF -5.5

Blind Owl: I know I know. San Fran hasn’t been as great as they were. They’ve been playing down to their opponents. A decent opponent is what they needed in my opinion. As much as I think Burrow is a fraud, Cincy’s talent on offense is legit. San Fran will right the ship here and have a good win against a decent team.

Concret3Cowboy: San Fran

BrendawnoftheDead: the 9ers are a bit banged up and Cincy is starting to figure their s**t out. I like Cincy to cover, the 49ers secondary has looked an it vulnerable as of late.

CHI @ LAC: LAC -8.5

Blind Owl: Sources are telling me that the Chargers locker room is in shambles. Coaches have lost the team and things aren’t looking great. That said, they are just so much more talented than the Bears. Fields is still out and Herbert is a baller. I think the Chargers could win without a coach. Super Chargers all day.

Concret3Cowboy: Bears.. the back ups dad is an absolute stud (look him up).

BrendawnoftheDead: The Bears are a bad team, the chargers are a good team that makes a lot of bad decisions. Give me the poorly coached team with high end talent to beat the poorly coached team with a backup quarterback.

LV @ DET: DET -8

Blind Owl: Jimmy G is back. Brian Hoyer fans had their moment. Unfortunately, for the Raiders, having the most handsome QB doesn’t earn you bonus points on the field. Lions will trounce the Raiders. All Hail Amon-Ra.

Concret3Cowboy: Raiders stink.

BrendawnoftheDead: The Lions got absolutely embarrassed last week, that won't happen at home. Jimmy Jesus can't right the raiders ship, handsomeness be damned.
