2021 Week 10 NFL Picks

I know. Y’all have been clambering for this all day. I’m sure you told all of your relatives, “Yeah I have the day off, but I can’t do anything. I gotta be right there when Blind Owl and Concret3Cowboy drop their picks for Week 10.” Well guess what, as I write this on Thursday night after dinner, I don’t have the Cowboy’s picks yet. But, especially today, I’ll cut him a little slack. It is Veterans Day, and he served. So I’ll take this opportunity to thank him personally for his service. Same to all of the BO Blog fans out there who served in the Armed Forces.

Now, let’s take a look at how we did in Week 9.

Week 9 Results:

Blind Owl: 7-7

Concret3Cowboy: 4-10

Wow. My streak of staying .500 or better continues. You’d think at some point I’d nicely ask my wife to drive me up to Seabrook and place a few actual bets. We all know the second I did that I’d start sucking, so I’ll just stick to this.

Meanwhile, the Cowboy had his worst week yet. Only 4 wins. That’s a tough look. For someone who is trying to make a big move in the standings, it would be wise not to only win 4 games. Hey, that’s just me. I don’t claim to know every strategy in the books. As said in the great film Dodgeball, interesting strategy, let’s see if it pays off.

Let’s take a look at the totals.

Totals:

Blind Owl: 73-61-2

Concret3Cowboy: 58-76-2

I’ll tell you, it feels great knowing I could completely butcher this week and get every single pick wrong and Concret3Cowboy could get every pick right, and I’d still be in the lead. Being the intense competitor I am, a 15 game lead isn’t good enough for me. I won’t be happy until I’m leading by more games than are left in the season. Let’s see if I can get a little closer in Week 10.

BAL @ MIA: BAL -7.5

Blind Owl: For some reason, this feels like a very bizarre matchup. I know they’ve played before but it just feels so odd. That being said, this has the making of a classic boring TNF game. Baltimore will dominate on both sides of the ball and win by 13ish.

Concret3Cowboy: Baltimore has been pretty lucky this season with breaks in their second half comebacks. After a physical game against the Vikings they get to travel to south Florida. I like Miami covering.

CLE @ NE: NE -2.5

Blind Owl: This was a tough one for me. Again, New England does what they were supposed to do and beat the Panthers. Cleveland is a much more battle tested team. I get that the Pats beat the Chargers who the Browns lost to, but that’s really the only good team NE has beat. So, I’ll take the 2.5 points and go with the Brownies. It’ll be a close game though.

Concret3Cowboy: I’d like to see Mac Jones put Myles Garrett in an ankle lock… only for Myles to crack him over the head with his helmet.

PHI @ DEN: DEN -3

Blind Owl: Was Von the problem? My Broncos beat the piss out of the Cowboys. I don’t know what to think anymore. Is Bridgewater good? I just don’t know. The Eagles gave the struggling Chargers a game and almost won. I think this is an absolute toss up. I have to go with both the home field advantage and my own homerism. I’ll take the Broncos.

Concret3Cowboy: What a game against the cowboys, perfect way to get the fan base out of depression with Von Miller’s departure. The Broncos are good when they start the first half in control, that’s not going to be every game. I expect it against an Eagles team that rly can’t produce a consistent passing game.

TB @ WAS: TB -9.5

Blind Owl: Two weeks ago, Tampa struggled and lost to the Saints. Lucky for them, they got a chance to stop the slide on a bye week. Not to mention going up against Washington, who is also coming off a bye. These teams will both be good and prepared for each other. So the Bucs will assert their dominance in talent and win easily.

Concret3Cowboy: Washington has been one of the most disappointing teams this season, defensively they aren’t there and Hennicke is showing why they added Fitzmagic in the offseason. Now the fact that I hate Tom Brady and he likes being on my local team is a problem. But he’ll be a bigger problem for Washington.

DET @ PIT: PIT -9

Blind Owl: I just have one question, can anyone in their right mind pick a team that hasn’t won a game going into Week 10? I know I’m not going to, but I can’t speak to the Cowboy.

Concret3Cowboy: I’m picking em, yup, I’m rolling with the lions again even though they do nothing but fail.

NO @ TEN: TEN -3

Blind Owl: I can’t figure out either of these teams. The Saints are more up and down than anything I can think of. And the TItans lose to the Jets with Derrick Henry, but beat the Rams without him. Most people in my life will find this shocking, but I’m at a loss for words. I guess I’ll take the Titans?

Concret3Cowboy: Did this spread come out before the Titans beat the Rams? Or is this spread remembering that these Titans lost to the Jets while playing Derrick Henry and playing against Zach Wilson? I like Tennessee covering but I really can’t let go of that Jets game.

ATL @ DAL: DAL -9

Blind Owl: Well, Dallas had a bad day last week. I think they just ran into a wrong place, wrong time kind of thing against the Broncos. We all have down weeks right? Just ask Concret3Cowboy about that. Atlanta is riding high after beating the Saints in a pretty good game. Everything will return to normal here though. Dallas all the way.

Concret3Cowboy: My reach of the week. If Dallas is really the caliber of a team most media outlets think it is, then they’ll get back on track this week and beat the wheels off the Falcons. Atlanta has also been doing pretty well the last month. So give me Matty Ice, not winning but covering.

BUF @ NYJ: BUF -12.0

Blind Owl: 9 to 6. That’s a baseball score. Not only did the high flying Bills only score 6 points, but they lost to the Jags. Embarrassing to say the least. I guess they just got sick of beating the brakes off of bad teams for a week. Well, redemption, thy name is the Jets. Buffalo will take out some frustration on the lowly Jets here. They could win by 40.

Concret3Cowboy: See you thought I meant the Bills QB last week when I said Josh Allen MVP. And I did… that didn’t work too well. “Magic'' Mike White “Lightning”

JAX @ IND: IND -10.5

Blind Owl: They beat the Bills! Are the Jags for real? No. They scored 9 points. They’ll come crashing back to earth against the Colts who keep playing decent football.

Concret3Cowboy: I don’t know, if that Jax defense plays like it did against the high firing Bills this could be a problem. But I don’t expect it, the Colts are better at running the ball than the Bills. But if Carson Wentz doesn’t care about being safe too much.

MIN @ LAC: LAC -3

Blind Owl: Another good game with the Vikings involved. They took the Ravens to OT last week in my game of the week. The Chargers haven’t looked as good as I know they can. Losing to the Pats and then almost losing to Philly. I’ve always believed in feeding the hot hand, so I’ll take the Vikings.

Concret3Cowboy: Chargers have fallen off a bit, Minnesota just can’t seem to figure out how to finish off wins. I still like the Vikings here not just to cover but to win.

CAR @ ARI: ARI -10.5

Blind Owl: I saw a meme on Instagram this morning that I think demonstrates exactly how I’m going to pick this game. It was a screenshot of Ian Rapoport’s tweet saying, “It’s an incomplete fracture for Sam Darnold.” Followed by a comment saying, “This man can’t even complete a fracture.” That made me laugh and is totally true. Now the Panthers are signing Cam Newton. That isn’t a sign of good things to come in Carolina. Colt McCoy led the Cardinals to victory last week. So it’s no question here, Cardinals.

Concret3Cowboy: Like what I was questioning if the Cardinals could keep their ways going all season…. Well they can’t, and they have a lot of starters missing this one. This is a reach but I gotta try.

SEA @ GB: GB -3.5

Blind Owl: Aaron Rodgers could have decapitated 13 puppies live on Nickelodeon and he’d have less heat on him than he does now. But like it or not, he’s back and seeing how bad Love was last week, he’s going to be there for a while. I honestly don’t care that Russell Wilson is coming back, this one is all about Rodgers. He’ll put up massive numbers in a big win.

Concret3Cowboy: If you paid attention to the Aaron Rodgers covid BS you’d see how the media has been playing covid all along. Meanwhile, Big Ben is missing a game because he has covid, but he’s vaccinated so why would we talk about that. The whole “Aaron lied” is a stretch, he said immunized and he is and isn’t. He had another procedure to bolster his immune system. But technically the CDC says immunization is either “from vaccination or being vaccinated” … yea that’s their definition. But to get back on track, I had covid and wasn’t really effected so i don’t expect Aaron to be to beat up (assuming he’s in better shape than me)

KC @ LV: KC -2.5

Blind Owl: All I’m going to say is the Chiefs should’ve beat the Packers by 60 last week. Instead they only won by 6. I am very down on them. But yeah, I’m picking them here. The Raiders will be the Raiders and choke in a big game. It’ll be closer than it should be.

Concret3Cowboy: The Chiefs STINK! Unless they’re playing Jordan Love.. Jordan stinks more. The Raiders have a more complete team and all that’s been happening around the team hasn’t affected their play on the field, even as a Broncos fan, that’s impressive. Tip of the hat to the players.

LAR @ SF: LAR -4

Blind Owl: How do the Rams keep getting these players? They just signed Odell Beckham Jr. hours before I wrote this. They are LOADING up for a Super Bowl win right now. San Fran lost to Colt McCoy last week. The Rams lost to the Titans sans Derrick Henry. This is a divisional game though. The Rams will be up for it and beat the 49ers pretty easily.

Concret3Cowboy: I picked the Rams to be the NFC representative and you would think that the addition of Odell would make me feel better. I actually felt better about it all after Robert Woods tore his ACL (that’s kind of twisted I know). Odell hasn’t done much for years and I don’t think that’s all Baker’s fault. Maybe more of a scheme deal than anything but only time will tell how it will all work out. It should work out this week as the 49ers just haven’t been too good this season. Being 3-5 and only beating the Lions, Eagles and Bears isn’t the strongest resume. Expect the Rams to cover easily.
